BBC IPlayer to be discontinued on Foxsat from September 2016

Hi

I saw the notice on the IPlayer channel that the version used by the Foxsat will be withdrawn after September 2016. Humax said they have no plans to update the firmware to make it compatible with more recent versions of Iplayer.

Does anyone know of an alternative solution (other than buying a Freetime box!)

That's hardly the point though is it Ezra? we pay for a TV licence so we must expect to be able to access all the facilities that the BBC supply without having to constantly change the set top box, this change by the BBC is to combat people who access TV on line without paying for a licence why should their misdemeanour be visited on us, we are being penalised unfairly here by what is supposedly a public corporation!

The outdated and poor quality mheg iplayer service has been around since at least 2008. Unreasonable to expect the BBC to continue support for what must now be a relative small number of users. There is a number of cheap ways to use the infinitely superior newer versions of iplayer which supports HD streaming. As for ITV player it's terrible quality on the Foxsat boxes.
