I obviously used the 'wrong' converter.
The site is hardly too verbose for the forum, compared to some of BH's epics.

Our Humax Fox T2 Freeview PVR stopped working; there was no circle of light around the power button and there were no signs of life anywhere else.

My subsequent actions are described on my website.

The relevant bit of circuit was already available in post #12.
Excellent work on the whole reverse engineering of the circuit and the diagrams though.
Would you object to it all being posted on here?

I think that's rather harsh. It's worth looking. I learnt more than one thing...
This is where the anti-spam forum stuff pushes useful content elsewhere, which is regrettable, but understandable.

Perhaps, perhaps not – this is where the community is. A web page is not peer-reviewed.

It's not the anti-spam which "pushed useful content elsewhere", it's the author who chose to. The anti-spam merely stopped him posting a link to it. The original claim (that a forum post could not contain it) isn't valid (probably).
