Bought a DTR T1000 for a fiver and still feel cheated

Looking for an old humax for the grandchildren I saw what looked like (and turned out to be) a DTR T1000 for£5 on Gumtree listed as not finding channels.

As the hard drive was worth more than a fiver, I bought it, ran it up, went into maintenance mode, reset the software, and it works.

Trouble is, apart from HD and catchup, which I don't care about, it does nothing that my old 9200t doesn't do better.

Can I can remove the drive, connect it to a pc, pull off the recordings and watch them, as I do with my 9200t, or will I find they're encrypted ?

Surprisingly, the recordings are not encrypted.

There are 7 partitions on the drive, 4 of which are encrypted. The other 3 include the Tsr and My Video etc. The few recordings, some old, some done after reset, none of them HD, play happily in VLC.

(I'm lukewarming to it)
