"Cannot format the hard disk. The capacity is too large" (2Tb)

I'm trying to upgrade my HDR-Fox T2 with a 2Tb drive salvaged from a Foxsat HDR. I have custom 1.03.12_mod_3.12 installed.

I've installed the disk (WDC WD20EURS-63S48Y0) but when I try to format it I get this error: "Cannot format the hard disk. The capacity is too large"

Any ideas??

Tried a reboot? That message is sometimes shown just because the disk is in use somewhere.

It is probably because the disk is being mounted in some way. I suggest connecting to the Telnet menu and running the 'gptf' option to format the disk using the GPT scheme. Once that's done you could try and format it natively through the on-TV menu if you wish.

Thanks. The gptf function failed the first time, saying that it wasn't a good idea because the partition was in use, but seemed to work the 2nd time. I've now rebooted and the web interface is reporting hardware problems with the internal hard disk, but it's hard to tell what sort of problems it has found. The info it reported is below - does this indicated what the problem is?

Are any of the lines in that table showing up as amber or red?
It might be just that there are a few reallocated sectors in which case you can acknowledge the current number (via a button on that page) and then it will alert you if it increases.
