Can't access web if

I cannot access the webif. and i have tried my best to find an answer on these pages before asking for help...
My HDR has Software version 1.03.12, and the CF 3.10

I have a internet connection and can use putty to access the telnet menu on the Humax. I have tried various things in there, including upgrade, fixweb etc as well as in the CLI the: opkg install webif --force-reinstall
[is it normal that i have to put in the 4 digit PIN to access the telnet menu? - might it be that?]

... but still, in IE or Firefox, if i put the IP address in. i just cannot get the webif to work:

"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.4.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

i hope it is an obvious, simple thing i have missed.... ??

Yes. No.

Sounds like the web server is not running. What does "service" report at a telnet prompt? Use the "cli" option to get to the command line.

Hi

Thank you - below is the output from the service command

humax# service

Name Installed Autostart Running
---- --------- --------- -------
cifs No No No
lighttpd Yes Yes No
nfs No No No
samba No No No

Syntax:
service start <service>
service stop <service>
service auto <service> (toggles autostart)

humax#

Try "service start lighttpd" followed by "service" again.

Hi. Here's that done..

To return to the menu, type: exit

humax# service start lighttpd
Starting lighttpd...
/mod/sbin/lighttpd: can't load library 'libpcre.so.1'
Done.
humax# service

Name Installed Autostart Running
---- --------- --------- -------
cifs No No No
lighttpd Yes Yes No
nfs No No No
samba No No No

Syntax:
service start <service>
service stop <service>
service auto <service> (toggles autostart)

Try "opkg --force-reinstall install libpcre" and then restart lighttpd as above.

:) :) And now the login to webif worked but with a reprt of some crashes...

...and i have decrypted my first recordings. so thank you very much for all your help.

out of interest, is there an obvious reason why there was a problem?

thanks.

I've no idea. Might be worth running fix-disk from maintenance mode in case a crash has upset your filesystems a bit.

If you get two crashes in quick succession it may lead to some of the packages stored in the flash memory to be disabled. As you mentioned crashes, I would suggest running the 'fix-flash-packages' diagnostic (webif >diagnostics or telnet). It only takes a couple of minutes to run.

Hi

I've had a similar issue each time I upgrade packages webif stopped recently, seems lighttpd service stopped, starting it got me back in without a reboot.

Ran fix-flash-packages from cli, results came back with 1 error

Re-installing webif
Removing package webif from root...
Not deleting modified conffile /mod/webif/html/favicon.ico.
Installing webif (1.3.1-5) to root...
Downloading http://hpkg.tv/hdrfoxt2/base/webif_1.3.1-5_mipsel.opk.
Configuring webif.

Ran again and same message, any recommendations

FoxT2 not ad detecting, and red recording ring not working

1.03.12 CFW 3.10
Resurrecting this thread as I can't access the webif as before using the ip address. (Shows '500 internal error')
Telnet (Ubuntu) into Humax and using the above suggestions shows:
cifs No No No
cron Yes Yes Yes
epg Yes Yes Yes
lighttpd Yes Yes Yes
nfs Yes Yes Yes
recmon Yes Yes Yes
samba Yes Yes Yes

Initially # service returned /bin/sh not found and the above didn't show. I ran update and full-upgrade which then showed the result.
Have tried fixdisk and all ok.

Also, coincidentally, rs.hpkg.tv not updating the recording schedule but showing boot ups etc.

Maybe my laptop rather than FoxT2?

No, that didn't work, but thanks.

My head must be in the bin today. I downloaded the CF 1.03.12 / 3.13 extracted to USB and followed the procedure. After inserting the USB it just sticks on the HUMAX logo on TV. Can't get it to go any further. Tried both sockets but I'm still on CF 3.10. Does it just upgrade or what am I missing?
