Can't connect to FTP server

When I try to connect to the FTP server on my Aura I get "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".
I've tried two methods:
I have File Share enabled on the Aura (and have used the URL it displays for the FTP address).

Any idea what might be causing this?
I can connect to another FTP server on my LAN with no problem (from the same WinSCP client).

Are you sure FTP is on port 2323? It's unusual if so. The error message means nothing's actively listening on that port.
I would try it without.

Scratch that. It seems it is on 2323. Humax really are quite bizarre sometimes.

That's what it says on the Aura settings screen.
I have also tried port 21 and 22 in WinSCP, but got exactly the same error.
I've also tried running ftp from the command prompt, then opening 192.168.1.248 (without a port number). I get "Connection refused"

Others don't see this problem - but I do.
Sometimes stopping and restarting the File Share (ie. the ftp server) can solve this. Other times stopping, enabling anonymous, starting (and possibly stopping, disabling anonymous and restarting) works. Then you can re-enter the Aura's IP addresses, if you manually assign them - even though they could be the same. Failing that, reboot the Aura.
No idea of the cause - with mine I thought it was possible the network wasn't running when the Aura came out of standby, but was up when I tried to FTP in. I'm not sure this is the case. Probably another design fault with the Aura.

It is and they are. You only have to read the mess the Aura and some D3&4 channels are currently in to see that (admittedly mostly posted on "the other site").

First question, do you have a PI-hole ad blocker or similar installed? It has caused Aura FTP connection problems for others.

I use Filezilla for FTP transfers and for me over a cable connection to the Aura it works first time every time.

Settings:
Host: <Aura's IP address>
Username: aura
Password: 0000 (the default PIN)
Encryption: Only use plain FTP
Port: 2323

I've used FileZilla, WinSCP (my preference) or command line with identical settings to yours and cable connection - no ad blocker, two different PCs. I'd be lucky if it connects first time 5% of the time.
