Can't delete from USB stick - just says *deleting...

I have used EaseUS to create an EXT3 partition on a 16GB USB stick so that I can make copies of recordings >4GB and save them elsewhere from my Humax HDR-FOX T2 box for viewing later.

However, when I try to delete the recording from the USB on the box, I get *deleting for a very long time (including overnight)...in fact until I remove the stick.

Any ideas on why this happens/what I can do to get round it (apart from going back to EaseUS each time and wiping...)?

Try Ext2 (which is more suitable for small drives), or use the custom firmware and add the NTFS driver so you can use NTFS on your stick.

EXT3 constantly writes to a drive due to journalling and as USB Flash drives have a limited number of erase/write cycles, EXT3 is not recommended for Flash drives. Format it using EXT2

Many thanks both, changed to EXT2 and works fine now (if a little slowly!).
