That is the official line, yes. It may be possible to simply install 2.19 over 2.15, but that route is untested.

It depends what changes are made. Do not assume anything about the future.

There is no reason it should go wrong, and if it does we can probably fix it without any recourse to installing older versions. The worst I can envisage is having to reinstall official 1.02.32 and then CF2.19 over it.

Prepare_for_upgrade is not always required, See the upgrade path HERE, It thing s go wrong, you can always install an official Humax version followed by a matching CFW version and if flash packages e.g. undelete, redring,ir, tmenu and rsvsync etc. don't work correctly run the fix-flash-packages diagnostic

I followed the upgrade path link provided by Ezra and only installed HDR_FOX_T2_1.02.32_mod_2.19 and all appears to be working fine.

So, for anyone interested, it is possible to simply install 2.19 over 2.15.
