I hear Labour are planning to change the 12 days of Christmas to the 12 months of Christmas in an effort to raise the spirits of the nation and reduce self harming and suicide rates which will lower the burden on the NHS so funding can be reduced and used elsewhere.

Christmas is actually a high suicide rate period due to people who have no-one deciding that Christmas isn't a good time to be on your own.

An example of one study
"Suicidality and mood: the impact of trends, seasons, day of the week, and time of day on explicit and implicit cognitions among an online community sample" in
Nature Translational Psychiatry published on May 12, 2023 (Volume 13, article number 190)

My understanding this is consistent with previous studies that actual suicide rates and completions peak during the spring and early summer months (April through June) and are lower in December, but that study included moods as well as suicides.
