Detect Ads keeps trying to run, despite being uninstalled

Hello all,
I used to use Detect Ads, but uninstalled it a while ago, due to lack of drive space, and being happy enough with skip forward. I have now noticed that Queue shows Detect Ads as constantly failing, obviously because it has been uninstalled. I have no Sweeper rules set, so i don't know what is trying run it. The log shows it as trying to DA the ts files in the FlatView folder, and looking in Flexview I can't see any option for DetectAds.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

DetectAds gets added to the routine processing cycle when it is installed, but it seems not to have been uninstalled properly (or perhaps the uninstall routine is buggy, because I don't suppose it gets used much).

Pending a proper solution, I suggest you re-install it, go into settings and set "no automatic processing" then "update settings", and that should kill the auto hooks. You can then leave it installed or uninstall it as you like – but I suggest keeping it available for manual use.

Are the entries in Queue for new recordings or ancient entries from when you were using it?
If for old entries you can just select and delete the queue entries.
The .hook files should have been deleted when the package was uninstalled so I can't understand why it should still exist.

If you do try the reinstall - uninstall route as suggested above please post any error messages encountered during the install and removal process.

While some temporary files are produced during decryption and cropping they should be cleaned up by the daily dustbin processing and shouldn't increase disk usage significantly - cropped recordings are smaller than the originals - not just by the removal of ads but by shrinking out epg data from the recordings.

I have followed @Black Hole's suggestion, and set "Detect Ads to Folder flag, Sweeper or No automatic processing of recordings", and deleted all the failed entries from the Queue. I then put in standby for 5 mins, and then switched it on, and the Queue was then full again of every recording from a non-BBC channels, some from a few years ago. So it looks like the hooks are still present. From a previous attempt to re-install and uninstall, I set No Ad-Detection on Flatview and My Video, and they are still present, but that doesn't seem to have stopped it either.
I have tried changing "Choose hours during which automatic processing runs", so that all hours are disabled, and that finally seems to have stopped it. Although it isn't idel as `I presume it will stop everything else including decryption.

Well, there's clearly something terribly wrong with the installation. It's a sledge hammer, but if you can bear to do it I suggest ripping up and reinstalling.

WebIF >> Diagnostics >> CFW Reset

Can you post the contents of autorun.log and detectads.log (both available on the the Diagnostics page)

I think that is probably overkill until we have seen some actual log data

Hello @MymsMan
Here is a link to the current autorun.log
detectads.log is currently empty, so I have reenabled all the autoprocessing hours and will see if DetectAds starts running again, so that I can post that log.

DetectAds is now back running, although detectads.log is still empty
Here is the new auto.log (1).txt which seems to indicate that Sweeper is running DetectAds, even though WebIF shows Sweeper as having no rules set.

Obviously not true! ;)

Look more closely at your Sweeper rules, they can exist in individual folders - not just at the /My Videos level
Probably in the [FlatView] folder since that is metioned and normally Sweeper ignores folder with [ ] around the names, normally you shouldn't run detectads on Flatview folder entries - it can cause errors.

Package uninstall would not touch sweeper rules

Thanks @MymsMan, that was the issue. I didn’t realise that I had set it on the Flatview folder. I have now deleted that Sweeper rule, and it seems to have cured the problem.

Glad it is now sorted.

In general you should not have any sweeper rules that modify recording in the FlatView folder or manually run actions like Decrypt, Shrink, Rename, Crop from the OPT+ menu while in the FlatView folder. DetectAds setting bookmarks is OK but DetectAds with cropping is not.

The reason is that entries in FlatView are aliases of the real recordings and modifying the recording creates another non-aliased copy which FlatView will delete as an orphaned recording.
