"do you want to shut down?"

Recently I've had this popup a few times when turning off the aura using the Humax remote.. instead of turning off immediately I get this and have to select to shut down.

Is this new functionality (was there an update?) or did it always do that in some scenarios?

Aura hasn't received any updates since August 2021. A short press on the Power button will put it into standby.
A slightly longer press on the power button will result in the Power off dialogue "Do you want to shut down".
If you choose OK it will power down, but it will perform any recordings should it be scheduled to do so.

Thanks that makes sense. And also ...

I've noticed sometimes when I press the power button, the green light stays on for several seconds - even though I just tap the button.
Is that typical or could there be a remote issue, button stuck etc?

It's just the housekeeping for going into standby. Doesn't your laptop also spend some time suspending operation? A modern PVR is a computer with specialised functionality.

Um.. the light on the remote. Sometimes the green light stays on for several seconds. I am not sure if it's waiting for the aura to respond or the remote itself might have a glitch.

Have you considered that a dirty remote may be the cause of your woes? a sticky button could turn a short press into a long one making the green light stay on.

I wondered but it looks very clean, barely gets used.

Sometimes you press it and nothing happens, which initially I thought was not pointing it properly (though is it IR or BT?) but I closely pay attention now and sometimes the light doesn't come on at all. Other times it stays on. I wondered if the microswitch might be slightly faulty but again it's not had much use.. that said every other button works perfectly.

I don't know if the green light being on directly corresponds to the button thinking it's pressed, or there's some software in-between 'thinking' about it. I don't normally look at the light on remote controls (does anyone?) to know what's the norm 😐

The green light on my Aura remote only stays on for as long as I press it for be it to power off or any other button.

Just had a play with ours. I'd never noticed the light (it's swmbo's box so I rarely do much with it except setting up recordings).
It does only seem to stay on while a button is pressed - green, except for volume +/- and mute which give red ...

The fact that the led stays on or pulses after OP presses the power button suggests a sticky power button (or maybe it's playing back a macro or keys sequence).
Also for that remote, red LED means it's using IR and green means it's using BT!

...So it can also control TVs?
Yes it can.

I have mine set so when I press the small power button (next to small tv button) it turns off the Aura, TV and Home Cinema all at the same time. If I want to just turn off the Aura, then I use the large power button

More than likely the button is sticking, I sometimes have this with the Freeview button. Try running very gently mind a needle or pin round the button
to free up any dirt that may be causing the issue.
The green light on the remote means it is using BlueTooth, the red light means it is using Infra Red (Volume and Mute).

Did it just now, as it happens. Pressed the button 'normally' and the light didn't flash at all, box stayed on. Pressed briefly but slightly more firmly and the light came on and stayed on, displaying the popup... this was taken after about 20s.

The light remained on until I pressed another button on the remote. The next time, the light just flicked and the box went into standby as expected.

It's just over a year old (bought 14-15 months ago on Amazon), does that mean I'm stuffed for warranty and need to buy a new remote if I cannot fix it (thanks @davey64 )? You can get a compatible remote for the older Humax for a tenner, but the Aura ones are ~30 quid.

Did you register the Aura with Humax after your purchase, Humax would then have given you a 2 year warranty as would buying it from John Lewis, Richer Sounds and possibly others.
Which reseller was it that provided the Aura through Amazon.
I doubt the remote is malfunctioning but the keys are 'sticky' have you tried running a pin round the circumference of the power button and very gently prising it up.

I am not sure if I registered it, though I'm sure I have some sort of online account to install the mobile app.
According to my Amazon invoice "Sold by Humax Direct Limited"

Have you tried using the remote out of bluetooth range to see if the green light still stays on? Doing this may point to seeing if the Humax is sending out a signal which keeps the light lit? It may also help to determine if the button is sticking or not.

I doubt signing up for the mobile app is the same as registering the Aura with Humax, you would need to get in touch with them to find out if you have the 2 year warranty.
If you still think the remote is malfunctioning rather than the more likely 'sticky keys' scenario then you can try resetting the remote through the settings.
Freeview Button> Settings> Freeview Play Preferences> Remote Control Reset.
You need to prepare before doing this by remembering if you changed the code for the Aura through Box Assigning.
If you found that when first used the Aura remote was operating other devices such as other Humax products or perhaps another device you may have changed the code for the Aura remote
so it would only operate the Aura.
When you reset the remote it will go back to the factory code which is 1, but the Aura will still be on the number you assigned it, if you did reassign the box when first used.
After resetting the remote you will need to set it up for Bluetooth, Freeview Button> Settings> Remotes & accessories> RM-C01> pair.
Also you will need to set up TV Pairing again and also Volume Control.
So not to be done lightly.

Have you tried running a pin round the power button or gently prising it up?
