Downloading recordings to mobile device

Hi,

I wanted to download a couple of programmes from my Aura to my tablet. I've converted the programme to mobile format, but whenever I click download, it always eventually fails.

I've tried two different devices and different programme lengths but no lucn.

Any ideas?

I can't be sure exactly what you are doing.

This isn't what I normally do but, I tried this:
Recorded a short HD clip. Made sure the Aura network server was switched on. Connected my Win11 laptop and the Aura to a network switch by ethernet cable. Eventually the Aura showed up as a device under Windows. Converted HD clip on Aura and then looked for it under recordings on the Aura disk showing on the PC. No download option, used copy then paste to the windows desktop. Short clip, 6 mins, completed download and playable (although the file type is wrong). Tried again with shorter clip but no conversion - worked and gave the impression that the Aura had done a conversion "on-the-fly".
I couldn't do this with the PC and Aura on WiFi only. On my setup it wouldn't be possible to download directly to a tablet or phone over WiFi. Doesn't mean it can't be done, just that I can't do it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Haven't tried connecting like that. I think I have an old switch in the attic somewhere.
I also didn't know there was a network server setting - will look for that too.
From what I've read, I think I'm supposed to be able to go on the app on a phone or tablet, go to recordings, tap on the screen with an arrow pointing right icon to convert. Once it has done that the icon changes to a phone one with an arrow pointing downwards to allow you to download it to the mobile device.
Sadly, just plugging a usb stick in the back doesn't allow me to just copy files like on my previous Humax FoxSat HDR.

Unfortunately you didn't mention using the Aura app in your original question.
My attempt at using the app to download was unsatisfactory. A one minute clip is taking over thirty minutes to download - if it completes at all.

The joy of the simple option.
That option was lost with the 4000/5000T.

There's an alternative WiFi method you could try for TV only.
Use the app to find the IP address of your Aura. Should be listed at top of menu that opens when you tap the 3 horizontal bars. eg. Mine was 192.168.96.139 use your address instead of mine in the following.
Open a web browser and enter as the address
http://192.168.96.139:8080
You should get the "Humax Mobile Control Page"
Tap on Recording List and find the programme of interest. If you see the symbol:

If it isn't there then either use the Aura app to initiate conversion or tap on
Screenshot_20260721-075635~2.jpg this may open a player window, ignore that and go back to previous page.
You can check conversion progress by tapping on Transcoder State (you will probably lose your place on the recordings list). You will need to manually refresh the page, tap the refresh icon on the page - not the browser one.
When that has completed go back to the recordings list and the download symbol should be next to your recording. Tap on it.
When using the Aura's mobile control page ignore any browser security warnings.
