Why can I see an edit button on other people's posts? Shouldn't editing be reserved for the OP and the moderators?

Oh yes so I am. However I a) didn't ask to be a moderator b) wasn't informed I was a moderator and c) do not wish to be a moderator. I already moderate a 4000 member international technical forum and know how much time it takes.
