Three boxes, three different results when running "diag epgrange":
1)

What causes this stuff to expire (or not)?
Box 3 just now had no info. for channel 102. A reboot made it lose 101,103 and 105 as well. Another reboot didn't fix it, so I deleted /mnt/hd1/dvbepg/epg.dat and rebooted yet again and it's all come good now and epgrange shows:

Do you think maybe the HDR could be made more stable if the CF deletes the epg.dat file every boot?
 
I guess this would cause a delay while the database was re-built, I wonder if doing this would speed up the EPG lag problem, I'll give it a try, my current epgrange is :-

With the above database it took 82 seconds to scroll down the full 'TV' list, after deleting the epg.dat and re-booting (twice) the epgrange is :-

Now the same scroll of the full 'TV' list takes 65 seconds, nothing else was changed on the Humax

I don't know. I was seriously considering making it do just that whilst thinking about this yesterday. Might be worth a test anyway unless anyone else knows a good reason why not.
 
Anybody else found any benefit of doing this? What about side effects? I'll give it a go when I get home tonight.
 
Just that af says there is a command on the maintenance mode menu (I'm not familiar with it).

The alternative is to use Telnet/SSH to get to the command prompt and "rm /mnt/hd1/dvbepg/epg.dat" (as per post 1), then reboot.
 
My epg range starts the exact same time date as prpr box 1 in post one.
What is the significance of august 10 1530 ?
 
Okay something strange. I can not ping my humax but it is in the web as iplayer works. As a result I can not get to the web browser. Anyone heard of this before!
 
Yep I had checked that. However I have just updated the custom firmware and it is now working but more importantly the epg is actually usable.

No idea. Boxes 1 and 2 are still showing the same start date/time as last week. Box 3 says:

and hasn't been rebooted since the time of post #1. Why is this one now working (apparently) correctly and the other two aren't I wonder?
 
I did a bit of analysis on this yesterday. I thought I had cracked it...
The errant entries in the epg.dat file related to Dave ja vu which had stopped broadcasting on its old service ID and moved to a new one.
So I thought the crappy Humax software doesn't remove stuff like this.
Then I looked a bit further and found more errant entries from CBeebies which is still on the same service ID, so that blew the theory out of the water.
Retuning clears the epg.dat file though.
