Files converted to m4v

I recently put some videos onto a USB sick to watch on my HDR Fox T2. The first couple of times the mp4 files played without problem.

When I use it now it says the files are m4v type and aren't compatible. I've double checked the files on the USB stick in my laptop and it says they are mp4.

Does anyone know a way to get the box to see the files correctly?

Where did the files come from? I guess it is complaining that the video stream within the mp4 container is an incompatible format. If you play the files through VLC and look at the properties, it will tell you how the audio and video streams are encoded.

The files came from a friend, who had no problem watching them. I'll try the vlc thing, but I'm just confused cause they worked the first couple of times

The MV4 standard is basically MP4 with added Digital Rights Management, so it's possible that the files have a limited number of 'plays' before they are locked, there is some info. on MV4's HERE
