If only Rewind TV didn't vomit a large on-screen next over the end titles it might be a decent channel. What with that and the dancing cow betting ads.

I can't remember whether Patrick McGoohan's accent moves from American to British during the series. I already have the episodes somewhere - mostly unwatched. I'll have to check.
 
On the subject of subtitles. I watch many foreign films/series with embedded subtitles. I attempted to watch a French film on TPTV the other day. Not only was the aspect ratio wrong but the subtitles were far too small. I'd have needed a TV three times the size to be able to read them comfortably. And white subs on a white background - argh! Oh, and subs in American English rather than British English. :frantic:The optional subs are not much better - they are often wrongly placed on screen.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Rewind TV are going to show subtitles. I hope they do them properly.

You remembered correctly though if you cannot get them already I am not sure you will in the future. This article was dated April 24th last year................................

First, some good news: Rewind TV is finally introducing subtitles on many of their programmes starting this May. This comes after viewer feedback – clearly people have been asking for it, and rightly so.

I don't need subtitles at present, except for the baked-in ones for the Italian/French/Scandi dramas I watch on 4/BBC4/TPTV.
 
My problem with subtitled foreign-language programmes is not being able to do something else at the same time.

I look out for foreign language dramas as I have this theory that BBC et al will only buy the best subbed programmes from other countries but will buy any old English language rubbish from the US or Australia.
 
Walter Iuzzolino (Walter of Walter Presents) was interviewed on Radio 4 yesterday - 10 years of WP. At the start they were looking for the best foreign language programmes that often tell the same old stories but with a local twist. I'm not sure they are quite as rigorous in their choices now, from what he said. I don't think they look for ready subtitled programmes - they look for good programmes and get them subtitled. I suspect the BBC do the same. TPTV do get ready subtitled programmes, the current "Murders in..." (French) has American subtitles (tire, favorite, diaper, etc.)

I'm picking up some Italian from viewing various More4/4 programmes.
