Might be worth reading the whole thread even if parts don't seem relevant as it explores lost PINs The solution that Humax supplied to the original poster may lose access to the recordings - even though they say they are not deleted. So be careful!

Have they tried the default pass code which is 0000 ?

The default code and obvious ones like 1234 and birthdays are always worth a try. As far as I can tell there is no limit on the attempts.
I can't see any good reason to change the default code - unless you are trying to protect the Aura from children, or children from inappropriate TV channels/recordings.
