Freezing on More4 & ITV2

Has anyone else had this happen ? A member on the other site reported having problems yesterday on ITV2 (ch6) and I noticed More4 (ch18) freezing on every ad break today though the programme plays fine and also ITV2 freezing constantly for ad's and programme, the usual advance and return of the channels to break the freeze only works for a split second then it freezes again. The other person is based in the North whilst I am in the South of England.
 
A quick check just now and I don't see the problems reported (East Midlands). Probably the wrong time of day or I didn't watch long enough. I rarely watch ITV2 so I'm not that bothered. I shall be most annoyed if More4 problems mean I can't watch "Astrid" tomorrow. Yes, I could use the streaming service but I find that's crappier than broadcast. Backup plan time - record on an older Humax!
 
I just checked and ITV2 seems ok but More4 is still having the issue but it is getting stranger, I looked late last night and ITV2+1 and E4+1 were also freezing with E4+1 still freezing now.

Edit Film4 black screen with just a audio cutting in and out and ITV4 freezing.

More people affected on the other site, this one very far from the South East where I am.

Most of those channels are on D3&4/PSB2 although ITV2+1 isn't.
I wondered whether the multiplex operator is playing silly beggers.

The fact it was only affecting ad's on More4 suggests an outside source rather than the Aura being the cause but there is no excuse for the Aura being so :poop: at coping with whatever is occurring when all other freeview devices are fine.
 
Just had this back from Humax.........................

"Thank you for bringing it to our attention as well, we've experienced similar complaints through our phone lines.
what I can tell now is that we've reported it internally to the relevant team already, first they'll try to replicate the issue on their own devices, then will look for the root cause.
On our initial checks based on user reports it looks like channels of the D3&4 mux are affected.
If you personally also experience this issue, would you please try something for me? If you start a recording on the live TV while a chanel is blank, would the box record anything?

I am also having what may be a similar problem with ITV4 recordings. I recorded 3 episodes of Paris-Nice cycling. I cannot get any of them to start playing. Clicking on the up segment of the centre circle shows thumbnails of every 10 seconds so I am pretty sure it recorded but when I press play a picture of the first frame of the recording pops up then the screen goes blank. I cannot fast forward but I can navigate from one thumbnail to the next but clicking on the thumbnail always returns to the first frame of the recording and then goes blank. I haven’t recorded anything else on ITV4 but other recordings of other channels all play ok.

I have only had my Aura a couple of weeks (bought new) and wondered if it was faulty but seeing this thread makes me think that the problem may be a broadcast of software problem (I am not very technical but what I am trying to say is it seems the problem might not be unique to my Aura.)

You assumptions are correct. The cause is not the Aura however it only seems to be affecting the Aura exposing its weakness a weakness that has been exposed more than once before by similar events. Humax are aware of the issue and are working on a fix but past experience suggests that may take weeks rather than days and until then we just have to grin and bare it.

It may be possible to play the recordings if you download a third-party app (VLC works, but there are others). Finding your recordings is more complex*. Similar "faulty" recordings from More4 played via VLC on my Aura.
Alternatively copy the file to PC and play it there.

* Internal HDD/Android/data/

files/recordings - set it as a favourite!
Look for a folder matching the name of your recording and then in that folder click on the .TS file. A right pita.

This looks similar to previous problems.

I just looked and it is the same here ITV1 and ITV1+1 affected but ITV1HD is fine , E4,E4+1 and 4/7 which are the ones most prone to issues for me are also fine. Hopefully it is an ITV problem and they will sort it quickly rather than another epic wait for Humax to solve it again.
