Front Panel Flap

I think it's been mentioned before (a long while ago, in a galaxy far, far away), but does anyone have any suggestions what the front panel flap on an HD-FOX is for (apart from hiding the reset tit and making it hard to find fumbling in the dark)?

The width looks adequate to take a 2½" HDD, with a bit of mechanical modification.

Isn't it a conditional interface slot ? There may be contacts to take a Conditional Access Module (CAM). Case was probably used for other models with smart card access.

Maybe - but have you seen one? There's no actual slot there, just a recess within a recess. It would require further machining to create a CIM slot. The inner recess would make it easy to grab a card however.
