FTP server setting

My recent hard disk problems discussed in another thread ended with my having to reformat and rebuild the cfw environment. All returned to normal except for the Humax's native FTP Server setting: it refuses to stay OFF so I can use the cfw version. It works for a day or so then sudden;ly reverts to ON. Resetting to OFF and rebooting sometimes works; at other times it needs several tries before it takes. Then some time later, it turns ON again and the cycle starts over. Any ideas?

Without konwing what the root cause is you could just have it turn automatically off each time you boot the HDR.
This can be done via the boot-settings package.

Thanks, I should have thought of that: it'll save the chore of doing it manually. But I'd love to find a way of stopping it from resetting itself periodically.

I don't recall this being reported before, but I don't routinely use FTP so I wouldn't have noticed (and neither would anyone else that don't use FTP, and particularly the CF version).

Any ideas?
With no real evidence in support of this, all I can think is some memory is getting forgetful. I have postulated our Hummies might begin to suffer from senile dementia.

However, what I strongly suggest you try is a System Flush.

The reason I included the ftp server settings in my boot-settings to be "Off" was that there had been a couple of posts where it was reported that the native FTP server was turning itself back on.
However, I don't recall that anyone has reported difficulty turning it off before now.

When it didn't initially take, are you sure that you really did switch it off , and that it wasn't just in an active stand-by state when you switched it back on again?
