******g Aura.

A rare event has happened to my Aura ( No it is not an update) I think this may have happened before a long time ago but I may be remembering it happening to my T2 and not the Aura.......... The TV guide instead of showing the usual half hour times of 7pm 7.30pm 8pm etc it showed 6.59pm 7.29pm and 7.59pm closing theb guide and reopening it has returned it to normal. Hardly worth mentioning but it was a change from failed recordings and unwanted visits to the Home page or restarts.
I definitely remember someone posting about this exact same problem - the .59, .29 etc. I can't remember whether it was an Aura or not. I can't be ar$ed to search for it - but I do remember!

Another day another failed recording, this time it was The Bidding room on BBC1 SD. Never mind I can watch it on i.Player I thought and I did. During the 44min show the Aura rebooted twice with relaunching i.Player seeming to take much longer than usual both times. ******g Aura.

Another day another new issue and another failed recording....................... I have been checking daily to see if the new update is offered to me (still no) but for the second day now when I press on the live TV box to return from the home page all I get is a soundless blank black page, I can change channels with the CH button and can see the TV guide and also change from there but all are blank still. I can play recordings ok . The only way to sort it is to cut the power and restart.

The other issue is quite odd.................. I have been recording Hyperdrive a comedy show on BBC3 ( not watched any yet so cannot say if good or bad) It is aired with 2 episodes back to back. Due to my recent issues I thought I would cover myself by setting it to record both in SD and HD, SD failed to record ep5 but did ep6 with HD failing to record ep6 but did ep5 . There were no other recording set at all yesterday evening. ******g Aura.

Have you ever tried setting recordings using padding instead? There are many drawbacks in using padding and you really shouldn't have to. I only ask because I've never witnessed similar problems* and, through choice, I use padding.

* Sometimes there appears to be no series link where there should be one and I've had to set every flipping episode in the EPG manually and try not to forget to repeat that later in the week.

No due to quite often during the 9pm and 10pm period I can have the Aura maxed out and I worry that over running the 9pm shows may make the 10pm shows fail to record.

*My failed recording have the series link showing in the TV guide . I do often check my TV list and schedule these days to see is there is info on shows as lack of it seems to indicate it will fail to record and I then cancel and reset the recording but its not a fail safe cure.

I don't manage to max mine out these days. FWIW, Aura padding on consecutive recordings on the same channel works. The overlap is in both recordings. Whether this counts as two of the four possible simultaneous recordings (at overlap) - I suppose it does.

Yes I read that but its more often different channels and having to tailor make each recording rather than a one size fits all setting would become a pain in the butt and as you say I should not have to jump through hoops just to achieve what the Aura was built to do as standard. To be honest this update is the Aura's last chance for me as I intend on getting my T2 out again and adding a Manhattan for reliable daily use with the T2 just to give me extra recording ability when needed.

PS There will be no Aura added to the "What to do with an old Aura" post as I intend to film myself smashing it into tiny pieces with a hammer and posting it on YouTube as a warning to anyone thinking of buying a new Humax product ever again :)

What with you not finding it and my Aura failing to download it (keeps telling me to check my network - nothing wrong with the flipping network!) getting the update is a problem. There ought to be an alternative way. eg. Download to pc (restartable download preferable), stick it on USB drive and some instructions as to what to do next. And whilst your'e at it, provide the current version in case we need to restore it.
