General incompetence

It seems to vary between 4 and 8 days, but is quite sporadic as to how they add things (which are not "Airing Break") e.g. the last new event added for each of the last few days is:
Code:
02/12 00:41:50 Event 34496:05041 61:03 added 2026/02/18 03:09:00 02:51:00 "Francesco"
02/13 11:41:43 Event 34496:05113 61:09 added 2026/02/20 22:54:00 01:58:00 "Kill Cruise"
02/14 00:38:54 Event 34496:05115 61:12 added 2026/02/21 03:28:00 02:32:00 "Monsieur Verdoux"
02/15 00:46:12 Event 34496:05138 61:15 added 2026/02/22 03:30:00 02:30:00 "David Copperfield"
and nothing for 16th-18th as yet.
All normal channels add stuff properly for day 8 just after midnight UTC.

You ought to see some of the stuff the "data" channels do. My logs are full of the cr@p they generate.

By "data channels" do you mean those that are a link to an internet tv channel? Do they have more that the usual EPG :poop: ?

And again for the "BBC RB1" Red Button
They've f*cked it up again:
Code:
02/18 08:45:01 Event 7168:32281 4E:17 started 08:45:00 03:15:00 "Winter Olympics Extra" "/m/1IQ0B" "/m-1I785/0B"
02/18 08:45:02 Event 7168:32282 4E:17 added 12:00:00 05:00:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"

02/18 12:00:01 Event 7168:32282 4E:02 started 12:00:00 05:00:00 "Winter Olympics Extra" "/m/1IQ0D" "/m-1I785/0B"
02/18 12:00:02 Event 7168:32283 4E:02 added 17:00:00 05:45:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 12:00:02 Event 7168:32281 4E:01 removed 08:45:00 03:15:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"

02/18 12:01:13 Event 7168:32281 4E:03 added 08:45:00 04:15:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 12:01:13 Event 7168:32281 4E:03 started 08:45:00 04:15:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 12:01:14 Event 7168:32282 4E:03 stopped 12:00:00 05:00:00 "Winter Olympics Extra" "/m/1IQ0D" "/m-1I785/0B"
02/18 12:01:14 Event 7168:32282 4E:03 changed time from 12:00:00 to 13:00:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 12:01:14 Event 7168:32282 4E:03 changed duration from 05:00:00 to 04:00:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 12:01:14 Event 7168:32283 4E:02 removed 17:00:00 05:45:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
32282 recorded for a minute having stopped 32281 at the (then) appointed time. Then they're tried to restart the latter again with the result that everything's now stuffed until 17:00.
Utterly incompetent idiots.

And to update (after the original post!):
Code:
02/18 13:00:01 Event 7168:32282 4E:04 started 13:00:00 04:00:00 "Winter Olympics Extra" "/m/1IQ0D" "/m-1I785/0B"
02/18 13:00:02 Event 7168:32283 4E:04 added 17:00:00 05:45:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 13:00:02 Event 7168:32281 4E:03 removed 08:45:00 04:15:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 13:01:03 Event 7168:32282 4E:05 changed time from 13:00:00 to 12:50:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
02/18 13:01:03 Event 7168:32282 4E:05 changed duration from 04:00:00 to 04:10:00 "Winter Olympics Extra"
Going back in time yet again (without TARDIS).

Yes. They have a specific type (12, in table 89 in EN300 468) in the NIT/SDT and are generally (although not exclusively, because, well Ofgums etc. are useless) having LCNs in the range 251-299.
Do they have more that the usual EPG :poop: ?
No, but they bu**er about with it seemingly ceaselessly, changing times, durations, event names etc.

One day I'll have to plug my dongle into the computer and have a poke around (to make sense of what you just said :)) - DVB-T only though.

It seems channel 4 are also messing about again. Pressing info for Sundays 9pm episode 5 of Secret Genius on my Aura in the TV guide or my schedule list gives the correct info for the episode but underneath in "Upcoming episodes" instead of showing the following Sundays episode 6 it shows Tuesdays 8pm episode 4 of Bargain Holiday Secrets along with the correct detail for that show and its upcoming episode 5 when info is pressed.

They have the same SCRID. It is up to broadcasters what they want to classify as the same series, even if the episodes themselves where not originally part of the same series, but now connected by a common theme. In this case that common theme may be secret.

It would take a genius to work out what that common theme is, different day, different time and totally different genre of show with different presenters. Could they both be made by the same people? Only an AI could be stupid enough to assume secret and secrets was a valid reason to link them.

More staggering incompetence for what was roughly a 1-2 minute interruption at 10:20...

At least they added a new event 08861 this time, but it took them an hour to do so and with no CRIDs at all, so it's utterly pointless as nothing will record it.
So effectively they've f*cked everything until 14:00, on their primary channel this time.
These people (BBC/Red Bee) aren't fit to run a transmission system as they seemingly have no idea how to operate it.

I assume the problem is caused by the news report of a high-profile arrest. There is no need for the duplication of BBC News on BBC Two -who can't receive BBC News these days?. And why would that cause problems with BBC One? Could easily have counted a news report inside the Olympics as part of that programme. Couldn't organise one in a brewery!

The BBC still operate under this bizarre idea that major news items must be on BBC One or BBC Two and not any of their lesser channels. This made sense in the days of dual analogue and digital broadcasting but is surely irrelevant now? I first heard about it on the hourly news on Greatest Hits Radio on FM radio.

Yes, a major niggle with me too. There is no need for any schedule changes, just announce between programmes there is coverage on BBC NEWS.

Never mind that: what about LCN 75 (That's Oldies) from Xtal Pal:
No programmes are currently being broadcast on this channel.

While LCN 76 (That's Melody) shows a data page (in its idle time 06:00-04:00) promising
That's Oldies on channel 75: 24 hours

I know That's TV sets a low bar for this topic, but still ...

I expect it's a botched mux. move.

Wednesday's updates added another copy of "Great! TV" (LCN 795) on COM5 (the real one is on COM6 currently) but sans any EPG data. Go figger...

They also seem to believe major items should be on BBC One. It would be a lot easier if the Olympics was on BBC Two all day rather than chopping and changing. But no, let's move programmes from One to Two and put Olympics on One. Oh dear, news plus regional news has to be on One, so shuffle everything about. Then shuffle them back. Then back to Two again so the News and Pointless can be on One. Who's deciding the schedule, Wayne Kerr?* :D

Edit: * I was thinking of the electronic equipment manufacturer - not a rugby player! (Yeah, right! I was really thinking of something else!)

Yes, and not only that – by switching Breakfast onto Two at 9am, we lose the regional play-out for the local bulletins.

'5' is showing a selection of episodes from The X-Files next week. One might think that would mean they were all in the the same series but no. Monday's two episodes are one series and Tuesday and Wednesday's are another. I'm guessing that Thursday and Friday's will also be different! I think I might go back and schedule them all as individual episodes to make sure they get recorded.

As it's Channel 5 that's probably a wise move. Some channels just schedule every series under one series link. But I think 5 is one that has a different series link for different series (of the same programme). It may be different because this is a selection of episodes. The only way to tell for sure is to wait until Friday or Saturday, then series link next Monday's episode and see how many are listed. Easier to just set them individually!

Edit: Just looked at this. A single series link will not pick up all the episodes.

So far, 5 Broadcasting have given a separate series id depending on which original series the episode are from (and which 5 channel it is broadcast on). The epg's description for the episodes include the episode’s original series number and the episode number within that original series.

The BBC are also prone to doing this, in the past I have seen 3 or 4 diffeernet series CRIDs for Homes under Hammer in the same week though at the moment, touch wood, they appear to be using a single series CRID and showing episodes in order!

During Lockdown when Glastonbury was cancelled, they showed programmes from previous years and every one had the option to 'Record series' but every one had a different CRID so you couldnt actually use the series recording!
