General incompetence

Jeez, what is wrong with this country? Can't anybody do anything properly?

The recent evidence would suggest that most things are not done properly. There are many cases of broadcasters screwing up. The prog proms on R3 where a studio presenter talked over the stage presenter (not part of an interview) is another one.
I could give a long list of other things this country can't do right, but we'd be here until the middle of next week.

The latest award for GI goes to Channel 5 for the CGOC which they unceremoniously cut off in the middle of Chuck's speech.

Did Channel 5 broadcast the last 15 minutes? My recording abruptly ended where you state, but I wasn't clear whether that was a Channel 5 AR issue or whether Channel 5 had truncated the broadcast.

The full programme did end up being on My5 catchup with the other 15 minute of programme gaps, also available. If I remember correctly Channel 4 has been known to suspend adverts during opening ceremonies.

Yes, the programme ended at 22:24. They just cut it off at 22:05, having previously extended it from a 22:00 finish time (I should check exactly when they did that) due to AR/schedule incompetence. I don't think they amended Billy Connolly afterwards either.

The full programme did end up being on My5 catchup with the other 15 minute of programme gaps, also available.

Too late for me. What a dreadful hash they made of it as broadcast, just cutting out and in again for the ads.

If it wasn't for the spelling there could be some highly inappropriate jokes made about those messages. (Think ISIHAC and things that might apply to a film trail and in the bedroom.)

Wasn't there a channel a few years ago called Your TV?
That Your TV had some fairly decent US and OZ programming, sometimes heavily censored. Probably a completely different unrelated channel.

Shame. Possibly more repeats of the same old and, being on the local multiplex, the picture will be breaking up - at least on the Aura. (Damned Aura. If the picture breaks up on a local channel it screws up the picture on recordings on a different mux. What a sheep of hit!)
