hdd problems with 3.10

I have just upgraded to newest cfw, and I would say that the internal hdd is only recognised about half the time the humax boots up. If I turn it off then on again, then it usually seems to pick it up the second time. It is the original hdd that came with the humax. I also have a Samsung M3 1 tb usb hdd attached which worked fine with the previous cfw, however whilst it does mount the hdd, it does not recognise any of the files that I copied across to it before the update. Any thoughts gratefully received.

If you have time, it would be good if you could try the debug version, 3.10d, and post the output of the 'dmesg' command after a working boot and a failed one, and also after plugging in the external drive. That may show what's wrong so I can improve it for future versions.

Going back to 3.03 is valid option (I have no plans to discontinue that yet) but if you don't need any of the kernel customisations you could also use 3.10k which includes the standard Humax kernel.

Going back to 3.03 is valid option (I have no plans to discontinue that yet) but if you don't need any of the kernel customisations you could also use 3.10k which includes the standard Humax kernel.

Strange: I installed 3.10 d, and that works a treat- it mounts the internal and external hdds just fine, and can read and play the contents of the external hdd. The only thing that I've noticed is that there is a 'glitch' in the live tv picture when the internal disc is recognised, and that occurs almost instantly with 3.10 d

I'm posting the output from dmesg below. I'm tempted to try reinstalling the standard version; maybe I was just unlucky with the original installation of the upgraded firmware.

Just experienced the same problem with the delayed availability of the internall hdd, and inability to read the contents of the attached usb hdd. This is with the diagnostic version of the cfw, but exactly the same fault as I experienced previously with the 'standard' version. Am posting the dmesg output

That dmesg output from the non-working case looks fine : (
Disk initialisation problems do seem to largely disappear when using the debug version which makes them incredibly hard to track down but does indicate some kind of timing issue. I will have a look when I can but as far as I know you're the only person having problems with 3.10. I'd suggest sticking with 3.10k for now unless you need the custom kernel features, otherwise 3.03, and I will look at this when I get some time.
 
Many thanks for your time on this. It does seem to be a hard to pin-down problem- I've tried all 3 versions of 3.10, and they all perform pretty much the same way- around 50% of the time it boots up providing access to both the internal and external drives just fine, around half the time it boots up with no access to either, but at some point (usually within 15 minutes), the picture will freeze on live tv, and then the HDDs are available. Around 10% of bootups result in delayed internal HDD access and a failure to recognise the external HDD at all. I do understand that it's just me with this fault, so could well just be down to aging hardware I guess!
