HDMI Audio dropouts - anyone tried CEC less adapter?

I've had problems with audio dropouts (about 1 sec each time) between my HDR-Fox T2 and Onkyo TX-NR515 Rreceiver. I've tried an HDMI splitter as recommended elsewhere on here, but after a while the splitter caused more problems than it resolved.
I was wondering whether anyone had tried a "CEC Less" HDMI adapter (which omits pin 13) to try to fix the issue?

You can probably get the same effect by switching off CEC on your Onkyo, they have a feature called RIHD ?, however I don't think turning off CEC will solve your problem
