HDR-1800T

HDR-1800T is a Freeview recorder, not a YouView box. It won't do what YouView boxes are expected to do.

There's a separate forum section for HDR-1800T – this isn't it.
The DTR-T1000, DTR-1010 and DN370T boxes will soon start to have their ITV Hub functionality reduced. From January ITV are enhancing their content protection for any shows that are added to the ITV Hub and the chnage will result in those 3 models not being able to play those new shows.
HOW TO GET ITV ON MY HUMAX . I CAN ONLY RECIEVE BBC I PLAYER.
If you want to have ITV Hub on an aerial recorder then you will need either a freeview play or a non ancient youview box

Unless you want to replace your 1800T entirely, I think the best bet is to use it for viewing and recording live TV, and use something else for catch-up services. ITV Hub, All4, My5 etc were never part of the HDR-1800T's portfolio, and iPlayer functionality is pretty poor (I presume the "1800T experience" is the same as HDR-FOX in that respect).

The "something else" could be a "smart" TV, a Roku, an Amazon Fire, or several other adapters (some of which are available off-the-shelf at the larger superstores and from the likes of Currys and Argos, and of course Amazon etc). All of these options rely on having a WiFi connection to decent broadband (3Mbps bare minimum).

Roku Express: currently available (Amazon - click through) for £23.25:

Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite: currently available (Amazon - click through) for £26.99 (includes Alexa voice control):

...whereas the advertising for the 1800T only says this:

If you want to replace your 1800T entirely, the Humax FVP-5000T and Humax Aura do what you want.

Whichever you choose, you might want to check it will continue to be compatible with ITV Hub after January:

Just my two penn'th, I've recently bought a Firestick 4K from QVC (under £23) as my Panasonic Freetime TV discontinued catch up services (except iplayer) a while back.
Have to say, although I don't watch much ITV, it's a great product.

I Guess i bought wrong model
It's easy to be wise after the event. I am also guilty of having (on occasion) purchased something on a presumption and then discovered it was never going to do what I wanted. I now resist clicking "buy now", especially if there is time pressure, until I have researched every detail... and if the sales pitch does not specify (sometimes deliberately), assume (whatever it is) is not included. If the deadline expires before I am sure, c'est la vie.

However, all is not necessarily lost. If you purchased on-line (or by post or phone), you have 14 days to assess suitability and reject it for any reason at all. That is legislated to make up for being unable to examine the item in person at the retailer.

The additional rights that the legislation provides is subject to restriction, and potentially does not give the go ahead for a full suitability assessment. In the words of Which?:
"The extent to which you can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop."

That will not stop some buyers from trying it on by attempting to use the legislation as a way to get a free trial that they would not have obtained through a high street shop. The legislation has taken this into account. Should the seller find that the goods have been examined excessively, then, under the legislation, the seller has a right to choose how much to reduce any refund, subject to a limit of the reduction being the full potential refund amount.

It all boils down to the condition of the goods when the retailer receives them back. If you take care to ensure they are in a fit state to retail to another buyer (including packaging), nobody's going to turn a hair.

However, I cannot deny the purchaser has a moral duty to take reasonable steps to ensure their prospective purchase is suitable, and the responsibility is theirs if they have failed to spot the absence of a desired feature. It is easier to make an informed purchase in person, if necessary by going to a specialist retailer where products will be demonstrated and advice given, rather than a pile-'em-high-and-sell-'em-cheap warehouse. Richer Sounds comes to mind, where they seem to offer first class service, with an excellent returns policy, and somehow without charging an arm and a leg.

"Fit for purpose" notwithstanding. If the packaging of (eg) a kettle fails to mention it is capable of boiling water, is it reasonable for a retailer to use that as an excuse if it doesn't? Obviously not, but exploring the boundaries of what is an implicit function and what is not is going to be tricky, and the OP's example is one of those. Clearly some have the preconception that "iPlayer" means "catch-up services" rather than "only iPlayer, not other catch-up services".

I have a Panasonic HD TV (6 years old) and the picture is definitely better watching Iplayer on the stick. It at least has the latest update ( Panny stopped software updates years ago along with catch up).
I can't help having fttp, there is no alternative. Anyway the OP wanted ITV catch up and this product does it well and cheaper than buying a new TV and that's why I bought one.

You still on two bean cans and a piece of string for b/band? ;)
