HDR Fox T2 lockups

Both my HDR Fox T2's have always done very occasional lockups, about once a year. But it's becoming more common, I'm now on one every 3 months on one of my boxes. Last time it was stuck with "Cust FW 3.13" on the front panel. Do we know what this is? Is it firmware or have I got some electrolytic capacitors degrading? It seems unlikely to be broadcast signal given it locked up at "Cust FW 3.13" last time, but it's never been stuck there before.

Edit: both boxes are in loads of free air on glass shelves, and have been running the 'fan' package for many years. They get no more than lukewarm.

How can we know? When you say "is it firmware", I presume you mean the Flash getting flaky. If that were the case, you could expect the misoperation to be repeatable.

I think I get crashes or lockups roughly once every 1 to 2 months.

I get a lot more than that, but I blame the networking.

OK so I'm reading these replies as: it's relatively normal to have a few lockups a year and not necessarily a sign of impending hardware failure.
