How do I view the forum as guest?

I got mine to do it (sort of). It shows the "From" but not the actual message. I just wish it would show me if/when that there's an actual message and NOTHING else... but Apple don't get it.
Apple think the purpose of the lock screen is to prevent bum dialling, they don't seem to consider it a security measure.
I think it was Settings, Apps, Messages, Notification and then Lock Screen Appearance set to "When Unlocked" on the "Show Previews" item. But it was a whole load of futzing around in the UI nightmare that is iOS that I now can't be sure.
I tried "Show Previews" and that shows the entire message for me.

Some of those are so much work to use there's no way my mum would let me enable them on her phone. Yet more passwords and codes, no way she'll allow that.
Android phone. Too much work for me, and I'm reasonably tech savvy. Backup all my stuff to Google's cloud disks - yeah, right! Might look into backup using adb to my external (4TB) drive.

However some of it is very good advice, like stopping text messages appearing on the lock screen and disabling control centre on the lock screen so a thief can't put a locked phone into Airplane mode.

I even had to twist my mum's arm about text messages not appearing on the lock screen. But once I pointed out it means a thief doesn't need to break into the phone to see 2FA codes for online banking and other services she accepted it.

I'd already put my phone on an auto lock setting. If it detects fast movement away from home it is supposed to lock the screen.
Can't find any way to disable Airplane Mode settings on locked screen.

I hadn't thought of or found that on iPhone.

If it's not possible to disable on Android that's very bad. It's a quick way to disable Find My. On iOS you can disable the entrie control centre appearing in lock mode, not sure if you can do just Airplane mode. Obviously you don't want them disabling bluetooth either.

On the lock screen I could enable/disable too many things! Realistically I only need to access torch and emergency from the lock screen.

Android 16?

Settings >> Lock Screen >> Secure lock settings >> Lock network and security = ON

With that enabled, quick settings are still accessible on the lock screen, and you can do things like change volume or turn on the torch, but anything else prompts for an unlock first.

Oh, right. Lots less focus on security. (Mind you, until a few months ago I was still on 7.)
My other phone is 13, but that doesn't have fingerprint scanner or NFC. Used with cheap SIM for internet and hotspot - usually never leaves home. Don't use a lock screen on that one so haven't looked into security.

Interesting stats when you look at a snapshot of current visitors.
Taking a guess that it's likely a large proportion of "non-robot" guests (298 in the snapshot below) are actually robots disguising themselves as human guest users.

(Below was extracted by human, no AI or robots!)...

354 Total visitors
298 Non-robot Guests online
53 Robots
3 Members

53 Robots...
• 21 Amazon robots
• 11 Baidu robots
• 11 SEMRush robots
• 5 Bing robots

The identified robots (as seen in "Robots" tab when viewing Current Visitors) are just the "responsible" scrapers who actually put "Robot:" in the browser "User-Agent" string.
It's easy, but irresponsible, for the scrapers to use what looks like a normal browser's User-Agent string (like of those web browsers that human users use)... so need to use other methods to identify and then deal with scraping. But has excessive server load been an issue since the Jan 2026 change?
I think it's more of an issue (similar to issue that the OP mentioned) that actual human visitors can't get a look into the forum (e.g. pre-signing up, to get a 'taste')... as all (or at least a lot of) the guest slots are likely taken by robots/scrapers/AI/etc.
peterh337 had some good suggestions in the other "DDoS" thread (quoted earlier).

There seems to be a change to the forum in that I can no longer view the forum contents unless I log in. Fair enough if this is done to reduce spam and keep the forum secure. But why do I have to log in, yet the stats show the are multiple robots and guests accessing the forum and threads?
Can I view forum contents as guest?
Well that wasn't intentional! It must have come in as part of one of the upgrades but should be sorted now.
