How long does it take to format the 1TB drive?

Hi,
I just set up a brand new 1100s 1TB and I cant record or pause tv.
It telss me to format the drive which I do - the Formatting banner is displayed and nothing happens.

How long does this normally take?

You should not have to format the HDD in a brand new 1100s, I think it is faulty, I would ask for a replacement / refund
