How to interpret Disk Diagnostics?

My Humax is just 9 months old, but came with a 2 year warranty. I decided to risk it and have installed custom firmware.

The disk diagnostics below contain phrase like "pre-fail", "od age" and "failing now". should I be worried? I am a heavy user and have been moving files between hard dives for two days.

there isn't anything to be concerned about in HDD parameters, you need to check a few 'raw values' from time to time in lines 5, 197 and 198 and as yours are all at zero that is good, small values that don't change for long periods are also of little concern. lines 9 and 4 show that the drive has been 'on' for an average of 15 hours day, which is over twice the average and the number on on-off cycles is about average

As far as I know that's the "type"* field you are reading, which is more of a property of the statistic than a comment on the health. The figure to watch is the "offline uncorrectable".

As far as I know that's the "update" field you are reading, which is more of a property of the statistic than a comment on the health. The figure to watch is the "offline uncorrectable". (before editing)
The "update" field contains words 'always' or 'offline', the 'raw values' are on the far left not the far right, see the headings in the top line. offline uncorrectable = line 198 and is zero as stated
EDIT
It isn't the 'type' field either.

Nothing to worry about there. The old-age and pre-fail are the Type column which just says what this field indicates. It is perfectly normal (although disconcerting!) to see FAILING_NOW against airflow temperature from time to time.

Although line 194 raw value (55 deg. C) is meaningful, the 'value' in 190 doesn't seem to be of any use on the Humax drives, it is usually 100 - 55 (the 'value' of 194 ) as it is in this case e.g. 45

I've had a look at my HDR disk diagnostics in the Webif and one of the HDRs has an "amber" coloured line for ID 5 with a raw value of 96. Does this mean anything? The HDR is two years old.

The lines 197 and 198 have raw values of zero.

Thanks

It means that your disk has, at some point in its past, had to reallocate 96 physical sectors due to media defects. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell if that is something that happened early in the disk's life or more recently.
It isn't necessarily a problem (most disks have defects as they leave the factory and will reallocate sectors at some time). Keep an eye on it and if the number starts increasing then it could indicate that the disk is on the way out.
