HTTP video stream playback?

I already use that to play back video and music from my NAS, but I was hoping there would be some mechanism (perhaps via one of the custom portals) that would support playing the remote streams I subscribe to...
 
A custom portal function would rely on the built-in web browser being able to render the video stream - and it doesn't have that kind of capability (nor would the processor/memory be able to cope if it did). The only possibility I can foresee is to find a way to mount an external feed as if it were local storage (which is what NSA does) - then the Humax firmware is tricked into playing the file as if it were stored locally.
 
Aha! Use a DLNA server to re-stream the HTTP content - I hadn't thought of that.

I'll give that a go - thanks for your help and, of course, for your on-going work :)
