Humax crashed

Watching the build-up to the live MOTD today, the screen froze but the audio continued.

It then rebooted and was fine.

I was only reminded of it by the message in Web-IF.

Strange this is, the first 15 minutes of the 9.00am recording of The Andrews Marr Show was full of picture break-up.

As I only recently fitted a new Hard Disk, I wonder what else could have caused that, and the reboot?

There is a custom firmware package which attempts to capture more data relating to crashes for analysis. If you install crashdiag then there may be a chance of determining the cause.

It's possible that the new disk is related. Have you tried the 4kalign diagnostic to check for alignment? Always worth running a diagnostic mode fix-disk following a crash too.
 
The video freezing but the audio continuing is a symptom of the Humax software crashing. Without the custom firmware you just get an immediate black screen and reboot, but the custom firmware attempts to finish writing data to the disk and do a more controlled reboot.
