Humax Faults v. Serial Number

Sending back my HDR FOX T2 500GB - bought from humax direct (grade A)

serial 63710482401287

Fault - Would not turn on in the mornings, stuck in standby and only way to 'wake' it was to turn off at plug.

Back around February-March 2012 I sent back a HDR-FOXT2-1TB serial number 63710449600390 complaining of general flakiness (the unit would just crash a couple of times a week or so, typically being found to be completely unresponsive with failed expected recording). This unit was itself a replacement for the hard-drive failed unit I posted earlier in this thread.

However, I'm not actually sure there was anything wrong with it: the replacement unit promptly demonstrated the same lock-up within hours. For some reason (something I read here? Some conversation with someone at work about what a crappy protocol HDMI is ?) I decided to try a SCART cable instead of HDMI and the newer unit has worked fine since (well except for recent signs of imminent disk failure... watch this space for a third post from me!). But I suspect 63710449600390 would have been stable with a SCART too. (For the record, the TV is a Toshiba Regza 26C3030).

My HDR-FOX T2 is waiting collection and replacement..
The machine randomly 'powered down' however my main concern was the increase in my daily eltricity usage, since removing the machine my power usage has come down by 2 units plus per day. I still have my PVR - 9150T connected. Must say I am impresed with the arrangements for collection and replacement.
Serial No. = 63710446000856

2kWh per day? That's about 84W average. It does seem rather a lot if it was in standby most of the time.

My HDR-FOX T2 Ser: 63710495201221 Purchased new in Oct 2011. This unit regularly froze and shut down, with the HDD overheating especially in warmer weather and with no evidence of the cooling fan kicking in. I finally contacted Humax support last week, who sent a replacement unit. Very impressed with the arrangements for collection and replacement. Just hope this one is OK. Regards. Have not been on the forum since last post sorry guys, anyway I just wanted you too know that the replacement box I received has worked without a single fault.:)

It's all down to how much power it draws and how many hour a day / year it draws it, if it was only on 5 minutes per day I would agree

Model : HDR FOX T2 500GB
Serial : 63710430900323

Hard Drive Serial: 6VV3BJZS
Returned 6th Nov 2012.
Faults: Recordings all glitched and skipping. Live TV of same shows (watched via the Humax) were fine. Reformat did not fix it.
Occasional "Media" button would not work. This would also have Disk Storage option greyed out under settings. Reboots usually fixed it.

HUMAX FOX HDR T2 1TB

Bought : Sep 2011 from TVAERIALS.COM
Scheduled to be returned for exchange to Humax Feb 15th 2013
S/N : 63710487200198

Fault: Keeps freezing several times a day either in normal mode or in portal and occasional loud graunching of HDD.

Just exchanged this morning via Humax ser no 63710488000952. Bought September 2011. Hard drive failing (error code 5 even after a reformat) Installed custom firmware and was able to salvage most of my recordings. Many thanks to the developers of the custom firmware. Having used it I will install on my replacement unit (ser. no. 63710557400463) which does not appear amongst the returned units list. It has the latest firmware and the serial seems quite current.

Bought July 2010 (when they first came out). Recently started with an HDMI handshaking problem that only manifested itself when the box was recording - no picture or sound on the TV when the box came out of standby. When it wasn't recording it worked fine.

Humax did an out-of-warranty exchange for a very reasonable price, but...

63 7104880 00800

Sent as a replacement for the above box. This one was DOA, completely, no fan, no HDD, no display. Have just received a second replacement today - we'll see if I have to add this one to the list...

EDIT: The second replacement works fine so no need to post the serial number :p

63 7105234 01490

Grade A from Humax Direct, returned and exchanged due to transit damage (drop or impact on front top right corner, facia forced in, top cover forced back and away from rear panel).
