Nothing so sophisticated! Delete, lock, sort, info (says no info), select, select all. It is going to be a total pain if this keeps happening but it lasted for 11 hours, linked to exact times midnight to 11am. Hope this is a one off, but FFS why?Haven't you got an edit button?
On the original Aura you would have to source an apk file containing the app and load it from your computer to somewhere on the Aura disk. I can't remember whether it has to be the HDD or the small other (SSD) disk. Then using a file management app you could click the apk file and install the app. Of course, unless there is a file management app in the Play Store you can't do it. From what I've seen (pictures people have posted) there is no such app. If you can't access the Google Play Store you can't get one. Therefore "Unknown Sources" is irrelevant! In Security and restrictions there is an option “Unknown Sources” to “Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store”![]()
Yes, either it’s there for a future update or they originally planned to have Google Play Store on it and decided not to bother after all. The whole thing seems totally undercooked. On the original Aura you would have to source an apk file containing the app and load it from your computer to somewhere on the Aura disk. The reason I bought this EZ is because it will probably be the last device to record 4 Freeview channels, both my previous Aura and Manhattan T4-R failed and at least it will get updated. From what I'm seeing here and elsewhere, it looks like my old Fhr-5000 will be struggling on for quite a while yet, unless it dies completely or Manhattan come up with a multi channel capable recorder.
I know that but I am not so sure they always promoted them on the page for their latest brand new product.Humax Direct have always offered refurbs (when available).
It sounds like you were a victim of what has become known as a bad Aura. Several people have reported being plagued by various severe issues over the years that others have never encountered. I think I may have been one of the lucky users who has a good Aura, I have had plenty of issues over the years but they tend to be minor irritations, quirks, and occasional failed recordings or faults that have been cured by Humax releasing an update and as far as I know EEPhil has been just as lucky as me.I still haven’t had any missed recordings or power failures, however all of my Freeview recordings since midnight today have been named after the channel and time recorded, not the programme title. Annoying, but not as annoying as missed recordings.
I am really hoping that Humax just wanted to get this out there early before they had finessed the interface and operation. It really shows all the signs of a hurried release before it was ready.
Still, as I said before if it records my Freeview programmes more successfully than the original Aura I will count it as a win. Updates will be coming I am sure.
One more thing - the old Aura used to frequently disconnect from the WiFi requiring every couple of days another pain in the arse password input demand. So far this hasn’t happened with the EZ.
Yep, it’s a possibility. But by logic I would probably have had to have bought a bad Manhattan T4-R, a bad Fox and a bad EZ. MaybeI know that but I am not so sure they always promoted them on the page for their latest brand new product.

Wow.So far the major irritations I've had with the original Aura: It used to reboot every morning and/or the first recording of the day - removing internet overnight and setting a timed wake-up on BBC1 and then another reminder to switch to 250 and leave it there for the rest of the day mostly cured that. Occasionally the Freeview app crashes and can't be restarted without a reboot - can stuff a recording. Then there is the D3&4 blank screen problem that Humax said they solved - but didn't. Other than that it's been reasonable.
You are not the only one, we a waiting for a major Android update for the Aura that Humax said may cure some of its issues. We have been waiting not far off 1 1/2 years since it was first announced so maybe you should not hold your breath just yet.Yep, it’s a possibility. But by logic I would probably have had to have bought a bad Manhattan T4-R, a bad Fox and a bad EZ. Maybe. I’m hoping this EZ will get a massive update soon otherwise it ain’t going to sell if anyone does any research
I have my HDR Fox T2s on 1 minute forwards and 15 seconds back. What I do love about it though is that like the Aura #1 you can set the length of forward and backwards skip to almost whatever you like. I like to have 1 minute forwards and 15 seconds back, so 4 minute advert breaks are a thing of the past.
Or buy some used HDR Fox T2s from ebay. Loads are listed, can be had for between £50 and £100.It’s like King Canute. Basically people who want to record Freeview are running out of options and are eventually going to be drowned by the relentless waves.
