Humax FHR-6000T Will this need its own listing in the forum? ( Now named the Aura EZ 4K Freely Recorder)

Have decided that the Freely box is not quite capable of what I need in its current configuration so it's been returned. The support team at Humax were very good, responding to my comments in a timely manner, let's hope they can get some work done by the development team to make the leap in quality needed to make their box street ready. Have now replaced the Humax with a Manhattan T4-R, not a direct replacement but Manhattan have chosen the route of 2 separate boxes (PVR & Freely) thus avoiding the identity crisis of the Humax box. Initial indications are good, the Manhattan is a fully-featured PVR, with a 14 day EPG (just the one EPG) and some FTA streaming channels (with Ethernet connection). Combined with the standard set of apps the box can get pretty close to the claimed functionality of the Humax box without the inconvenience of the Freely app (which seems to be a limiting factor on the Humax).

Did you beat the price hikes?

You did not mention Tivo in your post which in my opinion is a major bonus that makes the Manhattan combo a vastly better option than the Hucrap EZ.

My 2TB was £228 from Amazon, so it looks like it although I wasn't aware of the price hike. AI is becoming a plague on humanity (and the planet).
Forgot about Tivo so must be good (as I didn't notice anything untoward).

Has anyone had much luck with the Aura EZ freely? Everywhere has gone very quiet. Nothing on here for ages and nothing on the Humny forum for ages. Is it that it's much better and people are just happy, or hardly anyone's buying it? Lol.
I looked it up on Amazon to try and look at reviews and it's not even listed on there for sale any more for some reason?

I can't remember the reason that put me off getting one prior, apart from cost, I'd like to know it's good before getting it.

it's odd that humax still list the original aura similar price to the new unit, you would think it would come way down as they bring out a newer unit.

The only reason I was interested again is my unit is really annoying me how much it randomly restarts itself for no apparent reason. Programmes start to stutter for a minute or two prior to it happening until eventually ît shows the restarting symbol and goes off. It's done this on 2 units I've had, sometimes a few times per day. I have done everything like factory reset etc. Humax won't seem to admit a lot of users seem to have this issue. I used to be in the Humax forum that closed down and many users had this same issue.

There's also been no more mention of the so called software update that was supposed to be coming out some time. No one knows when.

I do only use my box Freeview and recording, I like how many programmes you can record at once on the Aura. I don't use any other apps or features really on the Aura.
I wonder if the ez version would be good and not suffer with the likes of this same issue. Or does it come with it's own unique issue?

I would advise not going that route as there are possibly even more problems with "new" Aura EZ as well as being quite an illogical UI and difficult to navigate. I have not used one but I have talked to users and read plenty of reviews where my initial reaction was "here we go again". I understand that it is basically 2 machines in one, a Freely bit plus a Freeview recorder and the 2 parts apparently don't talk to one another and have different guides and menus etc.!

I only hope that purchasers of the new version, having again been duped by the marketing, receive a working machine via updates rather quicker than the years of silence from Humax regarding my original Aura "doorstop"!

I bought and then returned mine on release week. I couldn't deal with the split UI... Terrestrial on the one hand, or online streaming on the other. No integration between the two, and literally no apps and the Android side of the device still visible but sideloading disabled.
The deal-breaker for me however was if auto refresh rates picked it defaulted to 60Hz which for me is unforgivable on a box targeting UK market. They clearly didn't test with UK users at all!

I kept my community fibre Netgem box which many don't like but which is more integrated than the Humax. And since then got a brand new in the box EETV from CEX which is less locked down than the Humax even our of contract, plus does HLG UHD from iPlayer!
The Humax did that too, but for example sent Wimbledon at 60 Hz or 30Hz = stuttering mess.
