Humax FHR-6000T Will this need its own listing in the forum?

It would need a separate listing if, and only if, it actually exists. Based on the "cordbusters" link I'm tempted to believe it as much as I do anything uttered by POTUS. I'll eat my words at a later date. :D

That is why I questioned whether it will or not. I have a feeling that it may well be genuine but if it is I am pretty certain it will only record freeview and pray that it is not just a problem riddled Aura with Freely strapped onto it in a new box.

Edit...... In hindsight I may too have reason to eat my words as I now see that it looks remarkably like a Humax FVP-5000T and as far as I remember every new Humax box has always been a totally different design to previous boxes.

Yes, if it is real I'd imagine the over-the-air section would be a revamped Freeview (doesn't Freely fall back to OTA under certain circumstances?). Recording streaming video - looks like the broadcasters are trying to block that. Wouldn't surprise me if a new box would also be Android based - a rehash of the Aura maybe. I see mountains of problems ahead - all assuming this is genuine.

Made of cheap plastic then.

I have added a new forum for this device.
Does this mean you have some inside information that confirms this to be genuine or are you basing this move just on faith? If the later I have a crypto scheme that could make you a fortune :).

That says nothing more than the Cord Busters link and sadly still does not confirm whether it will record Freely or not. I am still having trouble accepting that they would make it look almost identical to an old now discontinued model that won no beauty awards back then and looks dated now.

Edit ..... No mention at all on What Hi Fi yet and after checking 8 sites listing it they were all basically giving the exact same info with the nearest thing to any of them stating it recorded freely being.............................
  • "Freely PVR : First recorder of its kind" .............................. But that could just mean it is the first Freeview/Freely hybrid box that only records Freeview. I have e.mailed a guy at Humax who has been helpful in the past for some clarification so fingers crossed I get a reply soon.

I just had a reply from Humax but it seems even customer support are in the dark about the FHR 6000T or not allowed to give details yet but at least it does seem to exist rather than being an elaborate hoax............................

"Thank you for contacting Humax.
We recently tried to follow this up with our headquarters, although we have not received any new information about this "Freely STB" (like its capabilities/features/price/specific release date, etc).
That being said, we are still currently waiting for more information that we can share with customers.
You can also keep a lookout for this device on our website (https://humaxdirect.co.uk/collections/set-top-boxes), which should be updated as soon as this Freely STB is announced and ready to hit the market.
Best Regards,"

humaxdigital.com/support are now showing a protected listing for something they are calling the AURA EZ 4k Freely recorder , no spec and the only info about it is.................

"The product will receive software update support, including security updates, for 7 years from the date of initial supply as of December 1, 2025
Updates for firmware, applications, and bugs for Aura will be supported until December 1, 2032.
Details regarding the extension of the update period or the termination of updates will be announced 6 months before the expiration of the software update support period."

I cannot speak for anyone else but the name used only increases my belief that this will just be little more than an Aura with non recordable freely capability added to it. Whether naming it 4k rather than UHD will prove to be a difference from the Aura UHD android recorder remains to be seen though even then the difference may be minor.

Implies the new Humax ought to be available on that date. I want to see the specs./user manual before I'd even give it the remotest consideration! (Although I'd probably consider a second Aura in preference to this new model)

The existing Aura has always had 4k in its model name; the user manual for instance is for the WebUM_FVP-4KGTR_100GB

That just shows how incompetent Humax are then, UHD and 4k are not the exact same thing and what is the 100GB ? The Aura is 1 or 2TB

It all depends on what is different apart from Freely to an existing Aura for me to get my cash out. I have seen a few posts on the other site claiming to have cured some Aura issues by changing the power supply to something with more oomph so an upgrade of that on the new model could start to make it more appealing to me.

I have a suspicion that the people who are seeing an improvement from a higher wattage power supply are seeing the benefit because they have USB devices attached to the Aura. I was going to try the swap but my FVP-5000T power supply is the same wattage as the standard Aura supply.
