Humax FOX T2 half dead

Hello!

I am having problems with my Humax HDR FOX T2 freeview (1 TB) I can't access or play recordings; make manual or timer recordings.

I’ve tried turning the machine of at the mains.
Is recovery possible?
I’m not bothered about the machine I want to recover the recordings.
Can anyone help?

The way forward is to install the custom firmware and see what happens when you run fix-disk. If you haven't used the custom firmware before then start at http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Custom_Firmware_Overview

The real question is are you able to read and follow instructions. If so, you stand a reasonable chance of recovering most of the recordings. Alternatively you pay somebody to do it for you but make sure they do know what the are doing. You are unlikely to do any further damage but obviously a wrong move could destroy the recordings.
 
Thanks for the advice off to do some light reading.
I now have something to occupy Saturday afternoon. Will post how I get on.
 
Due to computer problems I'm only just getting around to dealing with this

What do I download?
