In the media browser section of the Web IF what is the clipboard for?

I can't see any documentation that explains the purpose and function of the clipboard section. Help please. Ta.
 
When moving recordings between directories you can Cut them to the clipboard, then select the target folder, and Paste them to the destination
 
Thanks for that. I had assumed that the clipboard would facilitate multiple downloads to my computer.
