IP address settings changed by themselves

At 12:42 today my T2 dropped off the network according to my monitoring.
On investigating the network settings, I found it was set to DHCP, where it was previously set to manual, and had assigned itself an IP address of 169.254.138.198 which is obviously not what my DHCP server is set to dish out.
Putting it back to the correct static address made it happy again, but has anyone seen this weirdness before?

169.254.x.x is what a client will choose if it is configured for DHCP but can't contact the DHCP server. Never seen or heard of a box switching from static to DHCP by itself though.

This would happen if the unit did a random factory initialisation (don't scoff, mine did one once), but you would certainly know that it had happened if it did.
