Still got the issue. I did get a reply as follows from BBC, I have tried the suggestions but still no change ;
Hi ,
Thanks for getting in contact with BBC iPlayer support, we are sorry to hear you are having some issues playing using subtitles on BBC iPlayer on your Humax device.
If you are still experiencing issues please try the following steps, some of which you may have already done, but it is always helpful to run through them again:
Try restarting the device. Switch it off at the plug and leave it to sit off for at least two minutes before turning it back on to reboot. A hard reboot like that can sometimes fix bugs and get things working again.
The next step you can take is to disconnect your device from the internet and again, leave it disconnected for a few minutes before reconnecting. You can even do a reboot on your router in this same way, which helps freshen the internet connection between the two and can correct a ‘less than perfect’ connection.
If this still doesn’t work, please check your device settings to see if the device needs an update. In the settings, you will find ‘firmware’, ‘software’ or ‘system’ updates. It’s called slightly different things depending on the make and model. If you need more help on finding this, please use your manual or contact the manufacturer for guidance.
If it’s still not working, try uninstalling the iPlayer app. Not all devices will allow this to be done, but if you can see the app and your device allows you to uninstall it, then please do so and then reinstall the app.
What you can also try, is to disconnect other devices that are using the internet as they will be fighting for bandwidth.
You could perform a wired connection to your device. If your device is some distance from the router, you may want to connect it to the internet by using a cable so that the quality of your connection is not compromised.
The last thing you can try is to change your video quality settings to SD to see if this makes a difference. You can find this in settings, then settings & help and then look for video quality.
Hopefully, these steps have worked to solve the issue, but if not, please get back in touch by using the link below. Tell us the exact model of your device, what version of iPlayer you have, and the System Information of the app. If you need help finding this, please follow our guide:
Thanks for getting in touch with BBC iPlayer support.
Kind Regards,
Blake Reid
I have now given them the information as requested, see what they come back with.
