@af123,

The hummy.tv site appears to be a bit poorly it has failed to respond to pings on numerous occasions overnight

It's a bit weird...
My HA VM is constantly reporting "Connected" and "Disconnected" events on its Pinger (which samples every 30s), but running a normal Ping from a command line on the host has reported no packets lost in 17 hours (one every 15s), nor any on a shorter test at 1 per second.

I have no problems with hummy.tv but i struggled with package downloads because my browsers don't like http. I went to the link manually & it said insecure download. I think that is why i ended up with no packages showing as installed or available after clicking upgrade all packages. Even though the ones i had were working. Something went belly up on the disk. I fixed this by deleting partitions, format & using the old internet explorer to start again. Here its failing to get webif

It's not your browser trying to download the packages by http, the browser is presenting a control panel running on the HDR-FOX and the software is running on the HDR-FOX. If anything's getting in the way of the http it will be the firewall restrictions on your modem-router, but I doubt that's it.

Two forums I use have instigated anti-bot measures because the servers are being hammered and causing delays in the user experience. I wonder whether the same is the cause here.

"Measures" are a CloudFlare thing where you have to present as human before being allowed access.

If you have Anti-Tracking and ad-blockers enabled the "Cloudflare thing" and similar seem to challenge you with those Captcha doo dahs. That also delays the user experience - especially those with crooked letters and mixed case that are unreadable.

If the Cloudfare measure is causing issues, I wonder if today's outage caused more problems?

The irony..
(For future reference, the standard webpage about Cloudfare has that companies whatsit measure tacked into it. So you can't see that page until the fault is fixed.)

I've noticed that, but another shop that I have visited, along with some other sites, can do the same thing without having to have the user tick a box, it manages to do the check and continue on without interaction with the user (although you do get a small delay while it shows the check happening).

I find the Cloudflare method annoying.
