Lost recordings and schedule after firmware upgrade

Performed a firmware update today and lost all recordings and schedules, is this normal?

I have done many software updates with other boxes in the past and this has never happened before so find this somewhat unusual. All other set up remained intact so wondering if this had happened to anyone else?

It certainly isn't normal to lose your recordings, no.
I wouldn't have expected a firmware update to clear the schedule either so that's odd, especially since your other settings were unaffected.

Ok so yesterday mysteriously all my previous recordings and schedule returned. I didn't do anything special apart from take it out of standby from the previous day although I had put it in/out of standby multiple times initially in the hope they would return. Either way thankfully they are now all there.

I don't know specifically about the 4000T, but an HDR-FOX performs a controlled shutdown which takes a while after entering standby, and if it is taken out of standby before the shutdown completes then it starts up again without rebooting. If the shutdown does complete, then the next startup is a reboot. Reboot can also be guaranteed by turning off and on again at the mains, but there are housekeeping operations performed during the shutdown process which are not done at any other time. On the other hand, there are fault situations which lead to an HDR-FOX never completing the shutdown process going into standby, hence requiring a power cycle to reboot. There are also some hardware conditions which can only be cleared by a complete power-off-at-the-mains (not a software reboot).

In all situations anything to do with computers (and a 4000T is just a specialised computer), the first action for any kind of misoperation should be to "turn it off and on again" (unless a process of fault diagnosis relies on it specifically not being rebooted) - and to guarantee it that means at the wall, not just pressing the standby button.

Just had same problems which is an old bug if you have an external drive plugged in and the box resets it doesn't boot to the internal drive causing all subsequent recordings to fail. Just unplug external drive and restart
