MAC Security

I decided it would drag that thread too far off-topic.

"Many" seems like a cop-out to me. I am unclear what exploits MofTot is worried about when the device in question is behind a router and on an unknown (global) IP address, and of those which (theoretically possible) exploits might be defeated by not knowing the MAC.

Pretty much no risk from what I can read online, and even if there are some then it definitely doesn't class as 'many'. I think some people just default to the paranoid opinion that ANY piece of information that is uniquely coded to you (even though MAC addresses aren't and can be easily spoofed) is of great value elsewhere and thus needs to be jealously guarded
