My Humax has died :sob:

My thoughts are to try reseating the front panel connector.

Just thought I'd ask if you left the Humax drive with default/standard partition structure? Because in one of mine I used the custom fw utilities to convert drive to gpt and forgot about it.
Why would anyone go GPT for a drive <2TB? One might optimise the file system, but not change the drive from MBR to GPT.

There was an auction finishing on ebay so I picked one up for a bit less than this bargain https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124688417508

For now, after initial testing, I will probably just swap my disk into the new unit and hope I don't need to mix and match other parts for a few years. (yes I know about encryption keys)

I had never reformatted the disk since initial purchase from new so definitely not GPT

That was a flight of fancy by bottletop, totally off the wall.

Then we'll never know whether the problem was actually the front panel, but I appreciate it might be best not to disturb a working unit.

My mistake, I got mixed up. I forgot the bit that MymsMan used a 2.5 adapter to power up 3.5 drive! I was still thinking of why the drive didn't show up when connected to another device on an earlier post.

The "new" humax has arrived and, so far, is looking good.
The disk had been wiped and the system factory reset,
The disk statistics look good

I also took delivery of a powered Sata cable and that is not working as well :(
When connected to the old disk it makes a chirping noise but is not recognised as a disk drive by any of the systems I have tried vbox, humax or PC.
So I need to take the disk out of the new Humax and try it with the cable to see if the fault is with the cable or the old disk.

I swapped the old disk into the new humax and, touch wood, I am now back in business with schedule restored and connect to Remote Scheduling :)

The humax can also see the "new" disk via the SATA cable, so I don't know why it couldn't see the "old" drive via SATA - perhaps the connector wasn't seated correctly

It is amazing how much more usable an old Humax is over a modern Android TV vbox.
