Since the awful weather last week we have been unable to use our Humax- message saying channels scrambled - so did a factory reset as advised by the support team previously (usually this works) this time it didn't. Weather calmer now but still we cannot access any channels at all - has anyone else had this problem and any ideas of how to resolve?

Start by checking that your aerial is still pointing in the right direction and that the aerial cabling has not suffered from water ingress.

The title says HDR-FOX - why is this in the HD-FOX section?

Is this your only means of receiving digital TV in order to check your aerial etc? Are you in an area where the transmitter could be off-line because of the power failures - do your neighbours have TV?

Have you tried a simple cold boot - power off at the rear switch? When you did a factory reset and therefore had to retune, did the Humax find any services? If so, what does Menu >> Settings >> System >> Signal Detection >> OK tell you (select each channel number and report the signal level and quality levels shown for each)?

Thanks for your suggestions - have managed to restore BBC1 and BBC2 but nothing else yet - at least that's a start. Sorry I put the question in the wrong section - just new to all of this. Will keep trying! help very much appreciated though

Can you help Black Hole's apparent situation?
You could do this by explaining how you think BBC1 & BBC2 has now been restored, and also have another look at post #3. If you could answer more of the many questions in post #3 it would help feed Black Hole and may help to give you tailored advice.

Ok I'm back and visitors have left so can now attempt to answer your questions. Just checked to see if TV was working and no - all channels (BBC1 and 2) scrambled again

Don't think transmitter is offline as have other TV's in house which are working. We are between 2 transmitters - Stockland and Tiverton I think, so always have a somewhat intermittent service .
Tried the cold reboot yesterday and I think that may have kick started the system so that we managed to get BBC1 and 2 (but gone again today)

Signal detection and quality just checked and reads as follows:
Channel 26 10 strength 10 quality
28 21 strength 10 quality
23 10 strength 10 quality

That's no good at all. Quality must be 100%, typically with strength 40+.

Check your aerial connections, connect a TV to the cable that normally goes to the Humax to check it, and then run the manual tuning procedure for one transmitter and then the other one to see which gives the best results. Get your channel numbers from HERE (click - tick the "detailed view" box), then see Things Every... (click) section 2 for tuning instructions.

For a stable signal you need a signal strength of about 40% plus, and signal quality of 100%. Are you sure you are tuned into the strongest multiplexes? Look up the frequencies for your local transmitters (ukfree.tv or somewhere) and try a manual tune. The frequencies you have quoted are for Stockland Hill, the Tiverton transmitter seems to be a low power one covering a small area.

Also try moving the box to a TV which is working, hook it up there and see if you get a stronger signal and stable reception: retune if necessary. If you do, it may be a problem with the cabling between your aerial and the location where you are currently connected.

Ariel towards Stockland - have had aerial person out before said this was the best one. Have checked channel numbers and will try to moving box to TV in kitchen. Thanks for the suggestions will let you what happens when box is moved.

Message read - strength low quality poor - when I tried the Humax on TV in the kitchen so no progress made - have now contacted Humax support but no response as yet
