New Humax 300Mb/s WifI dongle

My three differnet sourced and branded dongles which work on my Humax boxes are all Rt3070. Do RT2870 work?
I think you are right about it being RT3070 but they both seem to use the same driver: the RT2870 one (see here). I'm not sure how they differ.

Maybe Malcolm can let you have his?
The V2 Edimax doesn't work as it is a completely different chip set (MediaTek MT7601U). The non-functional Edimax EW-7711 af123 is referring to is detected by the HDR-FOX but it cannot detect wireless networks with the existing driver. It seems to be due to minor differences in the eeprom settings compared to the usual V1.0D dongle. To date the chip set of the new Humax dongle is unknown.

Another report has been posted on myhumax.org of the new Humax dongle being shipped with a HDR-2000T that does not have the software to make it function. The poster quoted the part no. as WNA699U8N3. A search on the wikidevi website (see here) identifies this as a D-Link DWA-140 rev. D1. If this is correct, the dongle uses the Ralink RT5372 chip set.

Edit. Correct chip set is Ralink RT5572 (see post #29, below).

In case it's useful, this is what the Tenda W311U+ reports in my Xubuntu VM:

Code:

Looking at the updated software that they have released, the driver they have added is for the https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Ralink_RT5572

Code:
humax-dev# (122) ls rootfs-1.01.06/lib/modules/2.6.37-3.5/kernel/drivers/wireless
bcm43236/ rt3070/
humax-dev# (123) ls rootfs-1.01.10/lib/modules/2.6.37-3.5/kernel/drivers/wireless
bcm43236/ rt3070/ rt5572/

slightly OT...

Would it be possible to add drivers for this (or similar 11n 5GHz dongles) to the HDR T2 customised firmware kernel?

Humax seem to shoot themselves in the foot at every opportunity.
It could be worse.
For someone else and me 1.01.10 just gets a black screen with the loading dial when attempting to play Youtube videos. http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/help-please/page/7
If I go back to 1.01.06 it's OK.

If this is a general issue then they could have released 1.01.10 on the internet update to the HDR-2000T or made the download link widely available.

Is this a dongle being flogged off because the previous owner discovered it doesn't work?
Or is it because a 2.4 / 5GHz replacement for the HDR-2000T can be had for £8.75 and the previous owner is after making a profit and still having a usable dongle.
