No HD channels in SW France?

Maybe (if there's a paying market), but then the respective beam is likely to come from a direction east or west so there is no ambiguity which way "V" is.
 
Not Sky or freesat, obvs. But presumably someone provides satellite TV to people living on the equator ...
I had occaision to visit the Kourou launch site as a result of work I was doing, and wandering around the township the dishes were pointing more or less straight up, maybe +/-5 degrees in the NS direction.
 
Fascinating stuff but back on topic: I've been away flying gliders in the French Alps, on return (having touched nothing) the missing BBC HD channels are now back. Going to try a new bigger dish, will report back
