An elderly acquaintance spoke to me last night: "You're into Humaxes - I can't make mine work now, it was fine a couple of days ago". "They've been updating their software automatically in the night just lately, could be that. Let me take it home and have a look."

So what symptoms is it displaying?

None that I can see. Lesson: "have you tried turning it off and on again?"

It turns out they were under the impression it was an HDR-FOX. This may be a case of the shop off-loading old stock to an elderly purchaser who might not know the difference - but I can't prove anything, and it was a while ago.
