Password (Not WebIf)

Many moons ago, I enabled a password on my HDR. At the time I was accessing it through the Internet and wanted to be more secure.

However, I no longer do so and I am getting fed up with having to enter my username and password each time I access the WebIf.

This is the line I entered:

/mnt/hd2/mod/sbin/mongoose -A ./.htpasswd localhost admin xxxx

where xxxx is my password

I cannot remember how I entered it let alone how I can remove it.

Can anyone tell me how to remove it completely please?

Go to the webif settings screen under Web Interface and delete the admin user, or run the 'removepw' diagnostic.

That's the first thing I tried. I deleted the setting, but when I entered the IP address of the HDR I was still faced with the login prompt.

This is the box that I installed the new lighttpd on.

If you can get to the command line, the removepw diagnostic should sort it for you - it completely removes the password database. You'll need to restart afterwards.

Thanks, but I have done something I wanted to try for ages.

I set the box to RMA, loaded the official FW then installed the CF (2.22).

Everything is OK, PLUS the speed on my iPad is back to what it should be, no more lag.

I did that too, but got an error message about mongoose being missing. Which, of course, would be the case as I had just installed lighttpd.

I was going in a bit of a loop.

Seems sorted now though. Thanks

I think there's a slight problem with removing the last user through the web interface. I'll fix it in the next release, thanks.
