Poor reception

i have excellent reception on all hd channels.
but I have poor reception on sd channels.Any advice would be appreciated

Have you tried a manual tune using the instructions at http://hummy.tv/forum/threads/hdr-fox-t2-tuning-advice.472/page-2#post-5824 ? Is this a new box or has the problem just started? What transmitter do you receive from? What is your post code? What is the signal strength and quality (as reported by the Humax) on an HD channel and on an SD channel?
 
Your Hi-def Freeview channels are contained within a few (or maybe even one in some areas) UHF frequency, see the list below, this is for the West Midlands area and shows Hi-Def MUXs in red, as you can see each line shows a different 'MUX' that can carry up to 38 TV/Radio/Data channels. You would need to identify what UHF frequencies are used in your area and then why you can receive some and not others
